As a Registered Clinical Counsellor (RCC) in Vancouver BC, I am passionate about mental health and wellness. As a person who values the incredible power of listening and living a balanced life, becoming a professional counsellor was a natural fit. I am dedicated to helping my clients address their concerns, feel happier and have more confidence.
In order to do this important work, I received extensive clinical training in Counselling Psychology at Simon Fraser University. In addition to my
education, my clinical work at the Surrey Counselling Clinic and in the Student
Health Services Department at Langara College has given me experience in
providing a wide range of mental health services to adults of all ages.
Most importantly, volunteering
at the Crisis Line and working in community based agencies and
non-profit settings have shown me the importance of providing accessible and
affordable mental health services to my community.
Depending on your concerns, goals, and needs, I utilize a variety of clinical approaches and techniques to assist you. Including but not limited to:
The focus of person-centred therapy is always on you and not on any diagnosis or categorization. As a Clinical Counsellor, I provide a climate conducive to personal growth and change. Through empathy and trust, our relationship will be productive, genuine, and non-judgemental. Together, we explore your thoughts and feelings, positive or negative, without the risk of rejection or judgement.
Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) focuses on the way you think (cognitive) and act (behavioural). CBT helps you to identify the relationship between your thoughts and your feelings. By making small changes to the way you think, you can ultimately change the way you feel.
A key component to solution focused therapy is helping you identify your strengths, resources and problem-solving skills. Together we can discover solutions that build on what you are already good at. We will utilize your existing strengths and skills as a basis for problem-solving and growth.
Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) helps people to improve and regulate their emotions, create more tolerance of distress and teach the person to be more mindful and present while improving communication and the ability to interact with others.
Emotion Focused Family Therapy (EFFT) helps a parent/caregiver to support the behavioural and emotional needs of their child/loved one. Learn to communicate effectively, manage difficult emotions and behaviours, set appropriate limits and improve your family’s overall happiness.
EMDR is a structured therapy that encourages the patient to briefly focus on the trauma memory while simultaneously experiencing bilateral stimulation (typically eye movements), which is associated with a reduction in the vividness and emotion associated with the trauma memories.
