About Vickie Wang

HaeMi, Vancouver BIPOC counselling

As a Registered Social Worker, my approach to therapy is compassionate and collaborative. I am passionate about creating a safe and supportive environment where individuals feel empowered to create positive changes. I recognize that every individual has the potential to overcome challenges and thrive when provided with proper support and understanding.

I recognize the importance of a solid foundation in counselling and have received extensive training in evidence-based approaches. Eager about psychology since high school, I proactively engaged in clinical work in hospitals and counselling centres. I hold an Honours Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Toronto, and a Master of Social Work from the University of British Columbia.

In my practice, I focus on providing culturally sensitive, trauma-informed, and client-centred perspectives. Whether you are facing personal challenges or working to heal from past experiences, I am here to support you.

Non-judgemental. Empathy. Trust.

The focus of person-centred therapy is always on you and not on any diagnosis or categorization. As a Clinical Counsellor, I provide a climate conducive to personal growth and change. Through empathy and trust, our relationship will be productive, genuine, and non-judgemental. Together, we explore your thoughts and feelings, positive or negative, without the risk of rejection or judgement.

It’s all in your head

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) focuses on the way you think (cognitive) and act (behavioural). CBT helps you to identify the relationship between your thoughts and your feelings. By making small changes to the way you think, you can ultimately change the way you feel.

Building on your strengths

A key component to solution focused therapy is helping you identify your strengths, resources and problem-solving skills. Together we can discover solutions that build on what you are already good at. We will utilize your existing strengths and skills as a basis for problem-solving and growth.

Take a breath

Mindfulness is a type of meditation in which you focus on being intensely aware of what you're sensing and feeling in the moment, without interpretation or judgment. Practicing mindfulness involves breathing methods, guided imagery, and other practices to relax the body and mind and help reduce stress.
